Jimi Hendrix Band "The Experience"
Initially, the band was designed to accompany Hendrix, but the Experience quickly became more than that. Following in the footsteps of Cream , they were one of the first bands to popularize the power trio format , which reduced a rock band to a bass guitar, a guitar, and a drum kit . [ 10 ] Such a format allowed the musicians to be more extroverted. In the case of the Experience, Jimi Hendrix took charge of both rhythm and lead guitar , adding feedback effects and using the wah-wah pedal in a way that had never been done before. Mitch Mitchell played fairly hard, jazz-influenced rhythms that served as both melody and tempo. Noel Redding played structured, sometimes melodious, and constant bass lines, a consistency that balanced the twin forces of Hendrix and Mitchell. Visually, they began the psychedelic clothing trend.
The band became famous in the United States with the Monterey International Pop Festival [ 11 ] , one of the first major rock festivals [ 6 ] . The band's concert ended with Jimi's famous Fender Stratocaster on fire [ 12 ] . The set did not convince the audience, but word of mouth helped the band to become known.
